A typical magazine cover consists of several important elements designed to attract and educate readers:

  • Masthead: The title and logo of the publication prominently above.

  • Feature Image: a striking image, usually with a celebrity or other relevant image.

  • Cover lines: Heading and subheadings that highlight articles or features that are the main focus.

  • Main Cover Line: The most noticeable headline that is connected to the primary image or topic.

  • Dateline: Price and sometimes release date.

  • Barcode: is usually placed at the bottom for retail scanning.

  • Introduction: a short sentence that summarizes the focus or brand of the magazine.

Together these parts form an interesting, educational and versatile cover.
